2000s
Asim Barnes ’00 is a guitar instructor at the Doles Center in Mount Vernon, NY and has made a name for himself as a gospel, rock, latin, soul, jazz, and reggae performer!
Justin A. Curmi ’02 is currently a freelance writer who writes about philosophy, social issues, and the trajectory of politics. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Baruch College in philosophy and political science in May 2015. His writings are featured in Huffington Post and ZME Science. In addition, he has an extensive background in politics with a focus in interpreting current events and information for nongovernmental and governmental organizations.
Congratulations to Jacob Waltuck ’02 for graduation from The Borough of Manhattan Community College on May 31. Jacob participates in a camp at Zeno Mountain Farm, and is starring in a feature film the camp is current finishing up. The film, called Ready to Ride, is a high school musical film about a star quarterback and the daughter of drug dealers who fall in love with each other while trying to cope with their overwhelming environments. Jacob is playing the school jock, Cody. Jacob wrote to Ms. Miller and Ms. Thorne saying he’s now ready to go into the working world.
Sasha Rothman ’04 stopped by Parkside recently to visit with Ms. Thorne. It was great to see her back on West 74th Street! Sasha graduated from Curry College in 2017.
Conor Devlin ’06 is currently working for Dan Rather as a content creator for News & Guts Media. He graduated from St. Olaf College in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature. He spent two years as a publicity assistant for Henry Holt and Company, and was a Development Intern for the Committee to Protect Journalists in 2016.
Shailon Dolores Pinder ’07 graduated in June from Hunter College with a BA in Education. Congratulations, Shailon!
Alexander Inglese ’08 wrote to let us know that he received his Bachelors of Music with a concentration in Guitar Performance from Five Towns College in May. “Thank you for giving me the foundation necessary for this achievement. I would love the opportunity to visit the school sometime to say hello (and could even bring my guitar!)”, he said. We would love to see you back at Parkside, Alexander!
2010s
Russell Chan ’11 stopped by Parkside in August, before leaving NYC to start his first semester at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he plans to major in Electrical Engineering. He shared that his brother, Ethan Chan ’11, will be continuing his education here in the city at the School of Visual Arts.
Andrew Isaacson ’11 gave the keynote address at Parkside’s Graduation and Achievement Ceremony for the Class of 2019. His speech was heartfelt and deliberate, straightforward, and the perfect summation of how Parkside prepares students to take challenges head on, to advocate for themselves, and to believe in their future. Blake Feldman ’12 graduated from City AS School High School with a Regents Diploma this Spring, and will be attending Dean College in the Fall. Way to go, Blake!
Alex Lathon ’12 was accepted to Hofstra University and Manhattenville College. We look forward to hearing which school he chose, and how his academic career progresses. Alex attended Winston Prep after graduating from Parkside.
Congratulations to Robert Olsen ’12 for his acceptance into Purchase College!
Sarah Silverman ’14 will be starting at Hunter High School this fall. After leaving Parkside, Sarah attended Leman Manhattan for middle school.
