The Parkside School is offering this free webinar for parents, teachers, therapists, administrators and anyone interested in learning new strategies for managing challenging behaviors in children.
Dr. Gorenstein-Holtzman and Dr. Trelles will present evidence based behavioral strategies and psychopharmacological interventions to help caregivers manage challenging behaviors that might be exacerbated due to the current circumstances. We will discuss utilizing visual supports and communication strategies and will provide families with additional resources.

Dr. Pilar Trelles
Pilar Trelles, MD, is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. Her area of clinical expertise is in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs). She splits her time between conducting patient-oriented research at the Seaver Autism Center at Mount Sinai Hospital and providing clinical care for individuals with developmental disabilities at the Developmental Disability Center at Mount Sinai West, where she leads the psychiatric clinic.
Dr. Trelles has been the recipient of important awards for junior investigators. Her research and clinical work aim to address disparities in NDD. As such, she works closely with community agencies, both locally and internationally, treating children and adults with ASD and other NDDs, to address inequalities in patient care and ethnic disparities in genomic research.
Dr. Trelles enjoys teaching and has been invited to speak at regional, national, and international Conferences.
Dr. Michelle Gorenstein
Dr. Michelle Gorenstein is a Clinical Psychologist and Director of Community Outreach of the Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment. She earned her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School. She receives funding from UJA Federation of New York to help disseminate more effective social skills programs for children, adolescents, and adults to community centers across the tristate area. Additional areas of interests include treating comorbid anxiety and depression in individuals with ASD and creating more inclusive community programs for neurodiverse individuals. She helped create the Discovery Squad Program at the American Museum of Natural History. She is on the LICM4all Community Advisory Committee at the Long Island Children’s Museum and serves on the Guggenheim for All Advisory Committee.
