From Recipes to Reading: Al Roker Helps Launch the PA's Book Fair

On November 21 and 22, The Parkside School hosted its 2024 Book Fair, kicking off the cherished tradition with a truly special guest: Al Roker. The beloved TV personality, celebrated author, and proud Parkside alumni parent joined us to help launch the event, bringing warmth, humor, and a touch of culinary inspiration to the celebration.

Al delighted attendees with stories from his new cookbook, Al Roker’s Recipes to Live By, which he co-authored with his daughter, Courtney. The cookbook, a heartfelt celebration of family and tradition, resonated deeply with everyone who attended. Al graciously took time to personally sign copies of the book and shared updates about his son Nick, a Parkside graduate from the Class of 2014, who is now thriving in college. Guests thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to connect with Al and hear his reflections on Parkside’s enduring impact.

The Book Fair itself was a resounding success, thanks to the incredible support of parents, alumni, and friends of Parkside. All 120 Classroom Wish List Books were purchased and donated, a tremendous boost to our classroom libraries. Attendees also showed their school pride by purchasing stylish Parkside tote bags, which added a special touch to the event.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Parents Association Book Fair Committee and the many volunteers who made this event possible. Special thanks to Sarah Krissoff, Claire Stevick, Paula Cavanaugh, Jodi Klaristenfeld, Vinaya Deiner, and Sara Golden for their leadership and hard work.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this celebration of books, community, and the enduring spirit of Parkside. The Book Fair continues to be a vital fundraiser and an inspiration to our students, fostering a lifelong love of reading.
